Battery terminals are located on the end of an automobile's battery cables. They connect to the battery's positive and negative posts and provide power to the vehicle's electrical system. The only relevant maintenance required for battery terminals is an occasional removal from the battery posts and cleaning with a wire brush to remove any oxidation. 
Most battery terminals are constructed from lead; meanwhile, many new vehicles are now using Copper, or aluminium terminal ends. Lead is a very good conductor of electricity and, as such, has been used for the manufacture of battery terminals for decades. The soft, pliable nature of lead makes it a perfect material to make battery terminals from due to the repeated opening and clamped closing the terminals endure while being taken off and replaced on a battery. 
Due to the negative impact of lead on the world environment, the use of lead is reduced, and Copper is increased. The Copper terminals have proven to be effective in conducting the electrical power required to operate an automobile. The disadvantage of using Copper battery terminals is that the Copper oxidizes much faster than the lead terminals do. This leaves a crumbly green powder on the battery post that requires frequent cleaning. The oxidation does not harm the battery, but it does create a problem for the terminals. The Copper is much more likely to be dissolved by oxidation and leave the vehicle's electrical system disabled without notice. Cleaning the terminals with a wire brush at oil change intervals will prevent this corrosive oxidation from becoming a problem.The terminal corrosion of the battery is divided into: ✔ Chemical corrosion: acid corrosion. ✔ Electrochemical corrosion: caused by potential difference due to different contact materials of pole. 
After the battery terminal is corroded: remove it, and please wash it with boiling water. After removal, install the positive and negative cables firmly and apply anti-rust grease. After the battery terminal corrodes the terminal post, it needs to be cleaned and repaired immediately. If the terminal of the battery is corroded, it means that the battery leaks liquid. Find out the cause of the leakage, repair the cracks and gaps, and fasten the loose parts. Also, deal with the leaked acid: wash it with hot water to remove the remaining acid; Then wipe the terminal post and the surrounding area with a soft cloth, and thoroughly purify and dry it; Finally, apply butter and Vaseline to prevent corrosion. If you can apply special anti-corrosion products, the effect will be better.
